Building a Business Website That People Can Use

Accessibility, responsive design, content architecture and performance matter more than decorative effects.

Begin with clear requirements

Before selecting technologies, identify the people who will use the solution, the tasks they need to complete, and the constraints that matter. Separate essential requirements from optional enhancements. Document assumptions so they can be tested rather than silently becoming promises.

Evaluate risk and responsibility

Every digital project has dependencies: hosting, access permissions, privacy obligations, third-party services and ongoing maintenance. Record who is responsible for each dependency and what evidence will demonstrate completion. Security should be addressed throughout the project, not added as an afterthought.

Measure results and plan improvements

Choose a small set of useful indicators such as task completion, page speed, error frequency or support burden. Review the indicators after launch, gather feedback and prioritize improvements based on impact. Technical decisions should remain traceable and understandable to the people maintaining the system.
